On Our Way to Perth

"Once you know it's God's will, get moving! At the orphanage we start a new building project as soon as we have three bricks to put on top of each other." Lillian Trasher

How often do we wait for all the pieces of our life to be perfect before we move forward on what God has called us to do. We need to make a certain amount of money, kids have to be a certain age, etc. Yet over the last two years I have been reading multiple stories of Christian Heroes who did extraordinary things for the Lord. Lillian Trasher cared for thousands of orphans in Egypt in the midst of wars, the Great Depression, and every kind of opposition you could imagine. Yet through it all God was faithful and she saved the lives of thousands because she believed God at His Word and she kept moving. Lillian and multiple other missionaries didn't wait until everything lined up perfectly, instead they moved ahead when they felt the Lord was prompting them, even when nothing else lined up. Oh how I've longed for more of this kind of crazy faith.

During our own season where our life took a drastic turn when my husbanded ended up in the Emergency Room instead of us boarding an airplane to Perth, Australia we had choices to make. Do we go home or do we continue to move forward with what we had felt God had told us to do. We choose to move forward. It didn't turn out exactly as we had planned but God has been faithful. Bruce has been blessed to take his class that he had already registered for in Perth, Australia here in Kona. I've been blessed to be with our children while assisting an incredible group of people who are helping end Bible Poverty in Africa. And every day we've been blessed to see God's hand on our lives as we've processed through a year of turmoil.

Last week I began feeling a stirring, it's been eight weeks since our detour and I didn't want to wait on a doctor's report to determine next steps. We hadn't done that when we went to Uganda and I didn't want to do that now. The kids and I prayed on Sunday, Nov 8 that the Lord would show us if we were to go to Australia soon or if we were going to stay in Kona longer. The next day I went to do laundry and the YWAM transportation staff were talking about Australia. That seemed a little strange but I went about my business. The next day after that I went to a moms group and the speaker mentioned her time in Perth, Australia.

On Wednesday we had Bruce's doctor appointment. The doctor was pleased with Bruce's right foot and told him he could start walking on it (PRAISE GOD!). The doctor was also happy with the results of his left foot and said it was time to start physical therapy and that Bruce should be fully walking by Christmas. We left very encouraged! That evening Bruce and I prayed that the Lord would tell us the time frame when we were to go Perth. God prompted my heart that it would be by January 3rd.

On Thursday I went to YWAM's evening service and their main speaker was from Perth, Australia. Then on Saturday I read Lillian Trasher's biography. As I finished up the book the quote above stood out to me and I couldn't shake the feeling that it was time to "get moving".

Sunday morning Bruce and I decided it was time to get our plane tickets. Therefore, we sent off an e-mail to the YWAM base in Perth, Australia telling them our thoughts. They responded telling us to book our tickets. We found great tickets for the 28th of December and are very excited to start on our next journey.

Has God asked you to "get moving"? Everything may not be exactly in order but God doesn't want you to wait until everything is lined up. Instead, He says step out when it's His time. When you start feeling the prompting He wants you to not stay comfortable. Instead He wants you to be obedient and trust Him. Our prayer for each of you today is that you will find peace in doing what God has called you to do!
